Harry Wertz of Visual Image PhotographyWe live in Maryland and got married in Maryland at the Cylburn Arboretum.
From beginning to end, Midge Harmon really helped me pull off this surprise. I hired a horse and carriage as a surprise for my groom. It was under $1000 for 2 hours.
My now husband is totally blind. One of our first trips together was to Busch Gardens in Virginia where he got to meet the famous Clydesdales. I wasn't able to find a Clydesdale but I was able to find a Draft horse which is a cousin of the Clydesdale. She put jingle bells on the harness so he could hear the horse moving.
When the horse and carriage arrived during the ceremony, the guests couldn't figure out where the sound of the jingle bells was coming from. They all had a guess about it. It was as much a surprise for them as it was for my groom.
Seeing him so happy when we were riding in the carriage was one of the best parts of our day. John, the driver. was really great. He held my sunglasses when we were doing pictures and he answered all of my groom's questions about Dixie (our horse).
We really had a great time. We can't thank them enough for all they did to make our day special.

Lindsay Giel and her father being driven by Sue Harmon and Karry in the Vis-a-Vis carriage to meet her groom, Adam Harper, at the garden wedding site at Belmont Country Club in Ashburn, VA.
I wanted to send a big thank you for such a wonderful horse, carriage and driver...all were perfect for our wedding and Adam was definitely surprised, more stunned from what his brother told me since he was next to him as Dad (Bruce Giel) and I appeared in the carriage.
I was extremely happy with the service, thank you again!
Sincerely,
Lindsay M. Giel

Hello! I am writing on behalf of my family regarding my son, Nitin Gupta, and his wedding on June 23, 2007. We just wanted to extend our gratitude for the wonderful job that was done by one of your handlers who brought the horse as a part of our Indian tradition. The handler, Bob Caswell's enthusiasm and respect for our customs was greatly appreciated by our family and friends. We could not have asked for a better service. We will be happy to recommend your company to our friends in the future.
Please forward on this message as well as our small token of gratitude which is enclosed to our handler.
Thanks again!

We wanted a "Wow" factor in our marriage celebration, and we were granted this by using the services of Harmon's Carriages. From the very outset of setting up date, time, etc. to the last guest enjoying a carriage ride, it was simply wonderful!
David Yauch driving Dempsey & Karry carrying Natalie and Jim Hill
at their wedding in Ashburn, VAThe driver was excellent as well as other employees at the trailer. The guests were overwhelmed by seeing the bride arrive in a horse drawn carriage then being able to take a short ride themselves, a first for most guests.
We would recommend Harmon's Carriages to everyone. By far, this is the best horse drawn carriage service in the Washington Metropolitan area.
Harmon's Carriages are FIRST CLASS!
Sincerely,
Natalie and Jim Hill
I was so impressed with the service provided by Harmon's Carriages when I hired them to provide transport for a bride and groom at the end of their reception. The horses were large and stately and the carriage was designed for royalty. It was a wonderful continuation of a magical day and the perfect ending to a fairy tale wedding. I look forward to recommending Harmon's Carriages to future clients.

I didn't want to let this day pass without writing to let you know how pleased we were with the carriage and horses yesterday. What a beautiful job on the braiding of the tails and manes! I have an appreciation for the amount of work that goes into getting your horses ready, trailoring them from your farm into the stressful traffic of Northern Virginia, and hitching up. I'm sure there's a lot more that I don't know, but I do agree that your fee is a bargain for what we received!
John was very professional and personable. The carriage and the pair of horses made a huge statement and our CEO and his family loved it!
Thank you so much for making the event very memorable. I would utilize your services again without hesitation.
